Want more information on Friction Bolt? Feel free to contact us.
High Strength Friction grip bolts (abbreviated to HSFG) are of High Tensile Strength used in conjunction with nuts and hardened washers in structural steelwork. They are also known as â˜Preloaded HSFG boltsâ. The bolt is tightened to a specific minimum shank tension so that transverse loads are transferred across the joint by friction between the plates, rather than by shear across the bolt shank. This method of bolting provides a simple and very effective method of transmitting loads through a structural joint, by the friction on the contact face, which is developed through the high clamping force from correctly tightened bolts & nuts.
Connections using preloaded bolts are designed to transfer load without any slip. The connection components may be more expensive than those using non-preloaded bolts, and the connections are more costly to prepare and complete, but should be specified in circumstances where slip must be prevented.
Please note these are pictured with through hardened and load indicating washers however these must be ordered separately and do not come as standard. The bolt and nut are usually supplied together but please confirm at time of ordering.
